On the pleasant morning of 17th October, the students of Swiss Cottage School- grade 6 to 12 (Heritage club) embarked upon an educational expedition to Qutub Minar - an iconic symbol of India's rich cultural heritage. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, situated in Delhi.
The students were greeted by an awe-inspiring site - the intricately designed minaret, surrounded by the remnants of historical structures. The aged, red sandstone bore witness to centuries of India's history, and the students were eager to uncover its secrets.
The junior students learnt about Outb al-Din Aibak and the rulers of Delhi Sultanate. The senior students focused more on burials, grasping a better understanding of the importance of burials and connecting it to understand the socio-economic impact of the Indus Valley Civilization. They were able to better familiarize themselves with Islamic architectural features of this era. They carried notebooks with them to jot down their notes.
